The problem is, that sure, Samsung might make really great LCD’s and LED-TV’s, but their plasmas aren’t as good as those of Panasonic. And since you will want a plasma tv, because they’re just better in pretty much every single way that is important for your experience, it doesn’t serve a point to buy Samsung TV’s.. But however, now they’re bringing forth OLED technology which actually DOES serve a point. And also, really expensive RGB LED TV’s are actually better than plasma TV’s.

I wouldn’t go that far. Samsung has a phenomenal display quality and some of the other brands at the top tier make great products. Its the more generic brands that suffer when looking for a really good tv.

Agreed. The 720p limitation was a negative but the picture was surprisingly clear anyway.

Anything other than panasonic is… like buying an apple. It might be good, but still not as good as anything else from competitors.

The drawback on this TV is that it isn’t 1080P. Other than that, it’s great bang for the buck.

Purchased this model from Target for $599 plus went through 3 3d players – Vizio, Samsung and a Sony. Sony had more online options but the interface was clunky. Vizio had a Qwerty remote which should have been the sweet spot but wasn’t. Samsung had a really good interface and was much faster on load time(s) than S or V. Have watched Titanic 3D, Avengers, IMAX something or other, Underworld, Monsters vs Aliens, Transformers Dark yada yada (all borrowed) ws gng to go w/a LG 46 1080P but not msng

TV samsung E550 51″ plasma.
Just tried it in 3D with Captain America 3D blu-ray was fantastic just makesure you get a 1.4 HDMI cable for the 3D data. Blu-ray player I used was Panasonic BDT120. Captain America throws his shield at you it hits you in the neck like it’s in the room right upto your nose. The indoor factory scenes feel like your looking through a window frame through a 1KM factory floor and not at a TV screen. Buying Avengers 3D in a week can’t wait.
